One of Selena Gomez's exes defended her against recent weight criticism, drawing attention to how cruel the world can be when it comes to physical appearance.
Taylor Lautner, who dated the Only Murders in the Building star briefly in 2009, per Elle, reposted a side-by-side photo of his former flame to his Instagram Story on Thursday (February 27). The snap, seen in screenshots obtained by Cosmopolitan, compared Gomez's figure from 2024 to 2025 and highlighted comments made about her body in recent months. Lautner clapped back at body shamers, remarking:
"It's a cruel world full of hate out there. You can never please everyone nor should you have to. In my experience, it doesn’t make the words sting less, it just refocuses you onto what matters."
He continued, encouraging people to be "a little bit nicer" online.
"And it sure isn’t the shape, color or appearance of your body. Daily reminder to all of us to not forget how beautiful you are inside and out … and to be a little bit nicer."
Chatter regarding the "Naturally" hitmaker's weight transformation spurred after her appearance at the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet last Sunday (February 23). The icon debuted a trimmed figure in a stunning black, off-the-shoulder gown. Gomez is very open about her health and has struggled with a plethora of medical issues in the past. The star is no stranger to setting haters straight and clapped back at claims she underwent cosmetic surgery in July, revealing:
"Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes because of a flare-up. I have Botox. That's it. Leave me alone," referring to her ongoing struggle with Lupus.
