Third Annual Ride for Fallen Service Heroes

MANCHIN TO JOIN 3RD ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE RIDE FORFALLEN SERVICE HEROESEvent to honor the WV National Guard Foundation and the Families of Fallen ServiceMembersWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will serve as the Special Guest Road Captain for the 3rd Annual Ride for FallenService Heroes on Saturday, July 8. This year’s ride benefits the West Virginia National Guard Foundation, the families of Fallen West Virginia Service Members and the establishment of a new Gold Star monument in West Virginia. 

In the coming weeks, special guests who will ride along will be announced.“Our great state has mined the coal that forged the steel that built the great tanks and ships that have made our country the strongest in the world. West Virginians have answered the call to service more than nearly any other state in the nation,” Senator Manchin said. “I amhonored to participate in this ride to memorialize those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and pay special tribute to their families. Freedom is not free, and for that reason, Americans all across this great land pledge their allegiance to the Stars and Stripes. I am excited to once again honor our nation’s heroes with this special ride across the rolling hills of West Virginia.”

The round-trip motorcycle ride will travel from South Charleston to Millwood, and concludes with a free community picnic at the National Guard Headquarters at Coonskin in Charleston. A complete schedule is below:

Registration at the Harley-Davidson of WV Pavilion 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Group Ride to Millwood Armory 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Break at Millwood Armory 11:30 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Group Ride to WV National Guard in Charleston 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Community Picnic at WV National Guard 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The partners include U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, Harley-Davidson of WV, WV National Guard, the WV Vietnam Veterans of America and the Capitol City WV Chapter #5439 Harley Owners Group, Gold Star Families, iHeartRadio and the Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation. Officers from the Huntington Police Department Traffic Unit will participate and provide ride security.
