McDonald's Giving Away Free McRib Sandwiches To Fans Who Shave Their Beards

The McRib is finally back at McDonald's!

Beginning on Wednesday (December 2), McDonald's will give away 10,000 McRib sandwiches to celebrate its return...but there's a catch. Since the nationwide return of the McRib falls right after No Shave November, the burger chain will give the free McRibs to any customer who shaves their facial hair.

"On the heels of No-Shave November – and a heck of a lot of quarantine beards –McDonald’s is helping fans get ready for the return of sandwich by asking them to shave for a free McRib on us," a press release reads. "Because we wouldn’t want those beards to get in the way of anyone enjoying a delicious, saucy McRib!"

Here's how it all works—all you have to do is show McDonald's you have a clean shaven face. That's it. Even if you didn't have a beard beforehand, you can still get a free McRib as long as your face is clean shaven. Next, snap a picture of your "cleanly-shaven or baby-smooth face" on your public Twitter or Instagram account. Make sure you use the hashtag #Shave4McRibSweepstakes and tag @mcdonalds in your post. The first 10,000 entries will receive a code for a free McRib, which will be available through McDelivery with Uber Eats, while supplies last.

“Our bearded fans know… facial hair and the McRib just don’t mix—believe me, I’ve tried,” Vice President of U.S. Communications, David Tovar, said in a statement. “With the nationwide return of the McRib, we’re helping fans enjoy every delectable moment by encouraging them to shave for a chance to win a free McRib. And we’re excited this year to partner with No-Shave November, a charity that knows a thing or two about facial hair.”

No-Shave November is a non-profit organization devoted to fundraising for cancer research, prevention, and education. If you simply buy a McRib on Dec. 2, your purchase will help support McDonald's donation to the charity’s cancer initiatives.

“No-Shave November is a month-long journey where we ask participants to put down their razors and ‘get hairy’ in the name of cancer awareness,” said Senior Executive Director of No-Shave November, Monica Hill. “We’re thrilled McDonald’s is supporting this important cause, getting both the bearded and the non-bearded involved beyond November simply by purchasing a McRib.”
