Journalists Mock Beyonce's Daughter Blue Ivy's Appearance In Cruel Tweets

Journalists from Vanity Fair and Harper’s Magazine are under fire for mocking Beyoncé and Jay-Z's seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter's appearance.

To kick off the New Year on Wednesday (January 1) the two journalists chose to mock Blue on Twitter after Megan Thee Stallion posted a photo, showing her alongside Queen Bey and Blue on New Year's Eve.

"I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy and I feel so sorry for her,” Vanity Fair film critic, K. Austin Collins, wrote.

Violet Lucca, who works at Harper’s Magazine, then co-signed K's cruel words, responding, "They haven't already?"

K. then continued his attack of Blue, writing, "you're right. But she's lucky — if it happens now she'll definitely grow out of it. Get the ugly duckling phase done early."

And if you thought the two adults' mocking of a young child was over, you'd be wrong as Violet then responded: “Or she’ll just get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner and we’ll all have to pretend that she always looked that way. I can’t allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich!”

While Violet may lack the ability to "feel too sorry" for the incredibly rich, K. somehow did, and he backtracked on his previous statements about Blue — only hours after his series of cruel tweets — issuing an apology on Twitter.

"I’m sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet — bad joke, and black girls in particular deserve better," he wrote.

Violet, however, first went on the defense, choosing to sarcastically reply to a handful of Twitter users who called her out for her mean tweets. However, after hours of Twitter engagement with her critics, Violet finally issued an apology, noting the extreme hurt of her words.

"Structural racism is real. It does not matter how much money a POC makes for them to be affected by it. I realize that when I make fun of another celeb kid—say, Baron Trump—it’s totally different than when I say something about Blue Ivy," she tweeted. "I’m truly sorry to anyone who was reminded of past hurt because of my comments. I truly believe Blue Ivy will go to the grave without knowing who I am, which is neither here nor there, but on the off chance she sees it—I’m sorry, young lady. You’re gonna go far no matter what."
